Twisted Hate by Ana Huang
5.0
4.5✨
I was only 3 chapters in when I had a very good feeling this would become my favorite title in the Twisted series. I ended up having had the right feeling. This interconnected series of steamy romances just gets better and better as you read along.
Jules is the one for me. Since the moment she appeared in Twisted Love, I knew she'd become my favorite. And she did. She is unapologetically herself-- confident, brazen, intelligent, and a little crazy. But she is also vulnerably insecure at times, with the past creeping up at her, threatening her present and future. I wanted to be Jules, but also wanted to protect her. I love her so much!
Then there's Josh, who, for a great chunk of this book became my favorite leading man of the series.
Rhys still has the spot, but with Josh close behind.
Jules and Josh's chemistry is pure chaotic electricity. This is a dynamic enemies-to-lovers romance that takes its time to craft its romance but never once loses its sizzle-- or the endless bantering between two people who may say they hate each other, but seem to fit together perfectly in so many ways.
I enjoyed the whole book-- well, until a certain chapter occurs. I still haven't made peace with it. You'll know it when you get to it, but I personally felt that chapter has a character take things a bit too far. It's hard to reconcile, and slightly dampened me enthusiasm for this book. Truly, if not for that chapter this would be a 5 star read. I was engaged, in love, and completely besotted (heh) by the story. But I needed more groveling, frankly, I don't think enough was done to remedy the hurt. And perhaps the hurt was simply too much to overcome, which is why I wish that chapter had pulled back.
Besides my qualm with a certain chapter's action, this story was it for me. I'd love to experience it all over again. Ana Huang does a superb job with both romance and smut.
