One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware

4.5

4.5 stars, I am a sucker for island survival stories

A group of couples all dropped on this island “paradise” to find out which one is the perfect couple, but then the massive storm hits and everything goes downhill from there.

- The structure of this book was fascinating. The mixture of regular POV from Lyla, journal entries from Zana, and radio distress calls from various survivors gives us a lot to work with when trying to figure out what’s going on.
- Ruth Ware does an excellent job at making you question your judgment on everything and everyone
- Some of these situations made me viscerally uncomfortable and honestly, that’s kinda what I want out of these books
- I freaking love island survival, even though some parts of this are a little slower than others

- This was like a combination of Love in the Wild (2011-12 reality tv competition that is literally exactly what the show in this book was trying to be) mixed with the not-so-reality-show Siberia from 2013 (obviously scripted wilderness survival “competition” show).
