Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson

While I enjoyed this book (as I tend to enjoy most Sanderson books I’ve read), I admit that I did find it a little harder to read than The Way of Kings, especially the first half. Mostly this is because a lot of this second installment’s plot revolves around the fear of people being found out or uncovered, which always makes me a little nervous. Also it contained one of my least-favourite tropes: when character know things that would be helpful to other characters to know as well, and might help the plot resolve in a favorable way if they told them, but the characters don’t actually tell each other what they know, leading to disaster. Frustrates the heck out of me. That said, I DID read all 1087 pages of it 8 days so, y’know, I can’t say it wasn’t gripping. (Especially since I spent over 6 hours in a single day blitzing through the ending.) Obviously I’m gonna keep reading the series – I need to know how it ends!
