Weasels in the Attic by Hiroko Oyamada

3.0

I will admit this was a cover/title buy 🫣 I haven't read from Hiroko Oyamada but have tried a few Japanese-translated fiction works and this definitely fits in with the weird fantastical writing I'm used to. I really enjoyed the writing style and it was translated well by David Boyd.
Weasels in the Attic follows the same core characters over 3 short stories. I am glad it was the same set of characters and a continuation of their life as the page count is already short. It deals with big topics and issues and perhaps it is too short to fully explore these concepts fully. Although it has a nice resolution towards the end which brings the story together.
One part of the story was quite upsetting and unfortunately very memorable because of the graphic depiction, which is why this book gets a 3-star rating from me.
