Conversations with Friends establishes Rooney’s reflective and poignant style and is quite possibly my favorite book of all time. I don’t think there’s a single page in this book that I don’t have lines underlined and highlighted. Rooney is masterful in capturing and bringing to light the intricacies of “conversation” and the complexities of relationships all while subtly offering her own social commentary on concepts such as politics, gender, sexuality, religion, etc. I am not a re-reader but I definitely am looking to reread all of Rooney’s books and especially CWF.
