I liked the MMC even though in real life ACAB. He was pretty "classic" fated and obsessed with his mate which was cute overall. The issue though, is the FMC had potential, but fell flat. I understood she had a bad ex but it didn't translate in the later half of the book when

she used magic after he told her not to use magic because they will track her and find her and kill her. The stakes were so high and even though he proved to be right over and over she kept insisting she knew what to do when she clearly did not? So to have her use the magic, and then he's like "oh you did it because of your ex" and she's like "hm yeah i guess oops" really did not do it for me. I hated her so much in that scene even though we are supposed to be sympathetic.

It's worth noting both of them have no character arc really lol. I will try the rest of the series bc it was fast and I finished it literally within a 3 hour flight so there is that.
