Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine

This book was such a good time (for me, not the characters). I didn’t know much going in, but I loved the unofficial/under-the-table WitSec element. The paranoia and preparedness had me tense and distrusting of everything (just like Gwen).
- The world’s response to Gina and her non-role in things was a very frustratingly believable progression. It was done well and had me feeling angry on her behalf.
- The kids and their coping mechanisms was interesting and had me even more worried for the family.
- While some of the twists were a little predictable, it didn’t take anything away from the story for me because there was plenty of unknown left to be revealed.
- I really thought that safe room would come back into play and I was disappointed that it wasn’t actually important.
