This is definitely in the group of books titled "Why Haven't I Read This Sooner?!" This definitely flew under the radar for me. It came out three years ago, but I didn't hear about it until a few months ago, and then finally got around to reading it. Let me just say, I have zero regrets reading this. It's so good. It's almost subtly beautiful. You would think it might be an over the top story, but that's not what we get here. The Guncle is full of heart and emotion, as well as plenty of humor and shenanigans. The growth of the familial relationship between Patrick and Maisie and Grant was so lovely to see and experience. They provide so much to each other on their emotional journeys. Grief, in its many forms and different stages, is a big focus in the story. The author really does a great job at depicting how differently many people cope with grief. Overall, I had a great time reading this one and fell in love with the story and characters so easily. I definitely recommend checking this on out!
