"The Dictionary of Lost Words" is about a woman's life, starting in childhood, and her relationship with words. It's about the making of the OED. And it's very much about how we value some words and not others, about classicism and sexism in what is valued. But mostly it's about a woman finding herself throughout her life. It's  been a while since a book made me cry. This one did.
