Oh my, I’m so disappointed with this book! I was really hoping it would be a new favourite as the synopsis was so intriguing. But alas, it didn’t really live up to the hype.
My main issue was just the repetitiveness of the writing style, it was so unnecessarily long and dense, with the audiobook over 17 hours. It just felt like a slog to get through it. There was a few too many characters for me to get to grips with, especially through audiobook format it was confusing at times.
I do think a lot of what this book had to say was interesting and thought-provoking but I just don’t think it was successful in exploring those themes. It wasn’t exactly entertaining as I was hoping it would be, I wouldn’t really class this book as a murder mystery, thriller, as it’s been shelved as.
I’m not sure who I’d recommend this to honestly, but give it a chance if it peaks your interest because I think we will all come to appreciate this book differently.
