Over and Under the Wetland by Kate Messner
5.0
Kate Messner has done it again with another of her "over and under" books. This one is a look into a Florida wetland. My young students always enjoy these looks above and below the surface. It's fun to see the places that the critters inhabit. This will be a great book to share with young readers. As with the other books she's done, the back matter is fabulous and fun for readers who want to learn more about the plants and animals featured in the book.
This book would be especially good paired with Celia Perez's middle grade novel Strange Birds. The back matter has a section that mentions the use of the bird feathers for fancy hats back in the past that had a huge effect on the bird population. It immediately called the novel to mind.
Young and old will enjoy this lovely look into the wetlands.
