Adeena Devna is the only survivor after her town Astrari had a massacre and everything was destroyed. Adeena gets abducted by the royal guard she is brought to King Demir as a potential human bride. An attack happens inside the castle leaving the king killed at the hands of Adeena. She flees the castle with the mysterious Dreyden who we find out is High Lord of the Fire Court.
I really liked the plot and the world building. The start reminded me of ACOTAR but that made me want to continue to see how the book played out. You’re thrown straight into action and it is faced paced you’ll immediately want to keep reading.
One thing I noticed and was disappointed by was there wasn’t a world map. I love it when fantasy books have one and your able to track where they’re heading and look at where everything is located.
I liked how Adeena wanted to know more and was willing to learn about the fae world as she had been to told different all her life. It was refreshing to see, I love how fierce and badass she is like that scene in the throne room her performance was amazing.
“I’ve never been so completely consumed with someone the way I am with you.”
I wish we got Dreyden’s POV but I really liked all the characters and loved the romance which had most of my favorite tropes (fated mates, only one bed, touch her and die) I can't wait to read more about Adeena and Dreyden in the next books.
