This was way more sweet and wholesome than I was expecting, and it really worked for me. But with all the wholesomeness, there are also plenty of heavy subjects that are tackled and handled with so much care and respect. I really enjoyed the murder mystery sub-plot of this story. It really helped set up more of the paranormal world building very well. Jaime and Finn were such a delight to read. There is pretty much no relationship angst, and the relationship development felt really natural even if it did move fast. I give a pass on that in fated mate situations. The sweetness also spilled over into the spice, and I loved it. Consent was a HUGE factor here, and I adored all the communication and mutual respect. It was so great to see. I really look forward to what else this world has to share with us.
