Before Your Memory Fades by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

4.0

The third instalment in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series and we have a difference in this book, Before Your Memory Fades, as we are in Café Donna Donna, rather than Café Funiculi Funicula. At first I was pretty disappointed (I don't handle change very well) but I began to love the business of Café Donna Donna and the difference in atmosphere.
Thankfully we still have some of the well-loved characters in this book, as well as some new regulars. I absolutely adore Sachi, the new tea-pourer, but missed Miki (who pours the coffee in the original café).
I don't think that the four stories were quite as emotional and hard hitting as the previous two books. This is why the book unfortunately doesn't score full marks for me but it was still just as beautifully written (and translated).
This series is one of my firm favourites and I'm highly anticipating book #4, Before We Say Goodbye.
