Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood
5.0
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Two seemingly rival video game lead designers on a retreat at a ski resort? As I continue to wish the weather in Arizona cools down, feeling like I was stuck in the snow with this audiobook novella helped.
Viola and Jesse work for rival companies, which could get in the way of them both working on their dream project of creating the third game based on a book series they both love. While it means something different to each of them, it’s fun to see them discuss it and be sounding boards for each other as they brainstorm the game. It also helps break the ice that has set in after a series of miscommunications over the years has led them both to think the other isn’t interested.
Everything about this release was perfect for me. The pacing was great, the turn of events felt realistic, and the ending tied everything together with a nice bow. I’m hoping we get to see more of their story in future Hazelwood books, since she does write in cameos sometimes. I want to know how the game turns out.
