Okay yeah this was everything I wanted and then some. I was near tears, I was laughing, I was shouting. This had all the emotions running.

Some standout points (with some spoilers):
- The secret pen pal thing was glorious and I loved it
- The found family element in Avalon Bluff was beautiful. Attie and Marisol were such great side characters.
- The scene when Iris is running through the field to Roman as the eithrals approach!!! I am obsessed. Also because it reminded me of my favorite scene from one of my favorite movies (The Village. the real ones will get it)
- The trenches.
- There was so much action packed into this, and yet the meaningful moments in between are just as interesting and keep the story moving so well. 
- I was silently screaming for the whole last 15 pages honestly. The ending was ramped up and exciting and I simply couldn’t put it down.
- THE NOTE IRIS FINDS AT THE END 😭😭
