The Gates of Guinée by Alys Arden

4.0

Set in magical New Orleans with all hosts of supernatural characters. It took me a bit longer to get into this one, I think in part because of the multiple POV chapters that are labeled by their magical symbols instead of the characters names. Sometimes it took me a few pages into a new chapter to shift gears and realize whose perspective I was in, but once I really got going all of that fell away. As always, I was captivated by the magical world & in this case, the magical underworld or afterworld. The few days I went really hard on this book I had the wildest dreams. At times I felt a little underwhelmed by the continued will-they won't-they of the love triangle, but other than that, this was a solid follow-up to the other books in the series.
