Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
5.0
I read this in June 2022, but I am amplifying it now for the #transrightsreadathon.
"Julian was achingly beautiful, but in the way a thunderstorm was beautiful—wild, rough, electric. And bound to leave devastation in his wake."
When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo by summoning a ghost. The wrong ghost: Julian Diaz, the school’s resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death.
I cried, and I cried, and I cried. This book has EVERYTHING: Supernatural Magic. Mystery. Slow-burn romance.
Jules and Yadriel's support, sacrifice, and love for each other was the cornerstone of this Latinx story. Julian's unending energy, like a wind-up toy that doesn't stop, was endearing (and watching Yads go from being annoyed to charmed was equally endearing).
I can't wait for the sequel! Aiden Thomas had some work to do!
