This was my first book in this series as well as by S.R. Griffith and while I am sure I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read previous books in the series it does work well as a standalone and I liked all the characters and getting to the world of this series. This book was a nice quick Halloween read and I plan to read more by this author in the future.
