A Tale of Something New: A gripping and romantic tale of light and darkness by D. S. McColgan

3.0

Liliana has a simple life in the country, until she finds a man brutally mauled in the woods. Even though this stranger has no recollection of who he is or what happened to him, Liliana has determined to nurse him back to life and even gives him a name, El. As time passes El and Liliana form a bond that they both were unprepared for. But when El finally remembers who he is, can Liliana overlook the monster that he has become?
Overall rating 3/5
This book had so much potential. I truly loved the simplistic chemistry between the two main characters. However, I felt that too much time in the book was taken up by the description of farm chores and little time delving into the transition of the monster or the destination that Lillian was kidnapped to. If there was more world building and character development I would have enjoyed this book more. I was also surprised to find out that the monster was a vampire and not a werewolf as I felt all the clues were leading up to that conclusion.

Thank you to D.S. McColgan, and BookSirens for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.
