The Marriage Act was my first John Marrs and I'm glad I started with such an intriguing premise which really captured my attention straight away. I love the blend of sci-fi with mystery thriller and it felt like a truly original story.
There were a lot of characters to follow so it took me a while to find my footing at the beginning but I did enjoy reading from many different perspectives in this dystopian future.
Whilst it was very thought-provoking, I feel like this novel didn't fully explore all of the avenues it created so the plot felt lacklustre and unsatisfying towards the end. It wrapped up quite quickly as there was so much set-up, I think the page count restricted the storyline.
I also listened partly to the audiobook which is very well-produced and I would highly recommend this format for The Marriage Act.
