A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

5.0

I have had A Good Girl's Guide to Murder on my to read shelf for so long and finally I dove into this YA thriller. I shouldn't have taken so long to get into this story as it was so well-written, I have now picked up books #2 and #3 of this highly-rated trilogy, and I am very excited to read more from Holly Jackson.
The characters were really likeable, I enjoyed Pippa's character and I thought she was very relatable as a high-achiever myself at school. Similarly I enjoyed Ravi and gained more perspective from from his character being the perpetrator's family.
It was so fast-paced and quick to get through. The writing is very accessible being a young adult novel, whilst still dealing with adult themes that are well navigated. I highly enjoyed the mixed media aspect of Jackson's writing style and I think this is what makes the trilogy so successful.
The plot was fully developed, it was very intricate and as a reader, I felt like I was trying to solve the mystery alongside Pippa, being in first person perspective and reading via her journal entries. There were twists and turns that I didn't expect and there was good suspense right up to the end of the book.
I'm looking forward to continuing on with this series very soon and would highly recommend it so far.
