Save the Cat! Writes a Novel: The Last Book On Novel Writing You'll Ever Need by Jessica Brody
5.0
For aspiring writers struggling with their first draft, I would say this is a godsend. You could have so many prompts and ideas in your head, in your notes, scribbled on napkins, whispered in the night before you go to bed. But like me, you could also be so lost on how to corral these plot bunnies into one cohesive story. I think the beats guidance that this book provides is quite helpful, albeit formulaic. But that's what sells, doesn't it?
The author constantly provides examples of parts of books that fit the beat or the genre. Very much like the Axis of Awesome's "4 Chord Song". There's nothing wrong with reusing the same ol' technique, especially if it's tried and true.
