I don't know if it's because I started reading the first book and read right through to the second and third but this last book really lacked a lot of the oomph that I felt in the first book and was only kind of there in the second book.
I really enjoy the predictability but that said I felt that the climax was very very quickly resolved. There was not even like five minutes of conflict really because they just fought the antagonists in three seconds.
I appreciated the female main characters backstory and personality but she didn't really have a lot of growth throughout the story and I didn't love how she acted like being poor was easy or better than being rich because of the joy it brings. Like it still felt like a very privileged lens of a rich to pauper person but it's not that serious.
Lastly, I felt the main male character lacked the nuance and slow ease into his character growth. He went from bars and booze to community preacher within point two seconds which I know it's fated love and he's dedicated to her but it would have been nice if before they had reconnected he had been thinking more about how to give back to his community. He literally was in a bar super happy then in a bar not super happy and then funding seven community centers.
