The Gunslinger by Stephen King
2.0
Ever since I read the Short story in Everything’s Eventual that has The Gunslinger in it, I have wanted to read The Dark Tower Series. I wanted an epic beautifully written story that I could get totally dragged into. With that being said, I was HIGHLY disappointed with the first book in the series, The Gunslinger.
I love Stephen King for his wonderful writing style and that there are always characters that I really feel I can get involved with and care about. With that being said, I found the writing style to be, well, honestly bad and pretty confusing. It randomly jumps from the present to the past with no warning. To me, it seemed really rush and all over choppy. Also the characters, I really couldn’t care less about. I couldn’t relate to them at all.
In short, everything I love about SK, wasn’t in this book. I only hope that The Drawing of the Three is a lot better or I will probably just give up on this series.
If you have read the series, does it get better after the first book? If so, how much better?
