I love this romantasy book!
It feels so new and refreshing. This is not the same dark romance with a fantasy setting that I've read time and time again. The characters are older and have a complex history. Their lives have changed drastically and their kingdoms have suffered and changed throughout their past.
We don't learn everything that has happened and I think this lack of information adds to the story. The main characters come together to try and right a wrong and finally end their long complex relationship.
As Aelia and Caiden begin to work together again, we can feel their heartache and longing for each other.
And yet, they have both begun or are beginning to heal and move on in their lives.
The characters are complex, the romances are complicated and the world building pulls you into the story. I felt like the author did a lot in 400 pages.
I cannot wait for the next in the series.
