Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver
3.0
I picked this up as a way to introduce myself in dark romance since that's the selling point.
The plot seemed interesting enough, but I was kind of disappointed to see that everything happens in 4 years.
My issue with this book is that even though the tw list is pages long, about 75% of them happen in the first 100 / 150 pages. The rest of the book is about them being cute and having sex until the last 50 pages.
There's not even that much murder for a book about serial killers (like 5/6 murders in the Whole book ), but I did like the plot twist.
Also, why is everyone talking about the ice cream scene? it's not that bad. But I nearly threw up when eating raw human meat happened. Like, gross.
Don't get me wrong, I liked it as a romance story. It was cheesy at times, and if this was a regular romance book I would eat this up, and leave no crumbs, but this is sold as something that it's not.
Overall, 3 stars, but I do have to say I'm intrigued by the second book and the forest ghost killer or whatever his name is.
Side note: how many serial killers can a country have before it becomes a national security problem? All of them are known enough to have nicknames...
