The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey
2.5
Here's my summary of this book: Is it love or is it lust?
The first half of this book felt... off to me? Like I couldn't figure out what it was but I wasn't vibing a whole lot, but it did get better around the middle, once I got to know Burgess and Tallulah a little more. But then I guess I got to know Burgess too well because he became so aggressive and forceful and I was not a fan.
-The best part of this book was every time Wells showed up (with or without Josephine). I miss them.
- Burgess said some truly terrible things during their third act breakup and I personally don't wanna forgive him. Also sex is not the band-aid for a toxic man, like stop using makeup sex as the remedy for a truly horrible relationship.
- Just because you have sex constantly does not mean you have a deep, meaningful connection. That is called lust and you just like hooking up a lot.
- Lissa was a far less important part of this story than I had anticipated. Like I'm sorry that she was just completely absent for like half of the book? Anyway I loved her and wanted more.
- Idk I just can't get it out of my head that there was like 70 pages of straight smut in the middle of the book. Like the definition of "all smut, no plot" because they basically just went to different places to have sex over and over again.
- Tallulah was great, but she makes questionable decisions.
- The B&N exclusive chapter was so unserious like what?? A MONKEY?
