Starling House by Alix E. Harrow

5.0

I tend to give out 5 stars pretty freely, as the simple act of reading already brings me so much enjoyment, but when I write a review it means I have too much inside me due to how life changing the book was. I was highly anticipating the release of this book and came out the other side with more than I could have ever asked for. Found family is such a common theme (and one I love profoundly), but a found home is not something I've encountered but now adore with my entire being. Harrow exquisitely captures the ups and downs and racing thoughts of home and family and tragedy and grief and dreams. Between Starling House and The Ten Thousand Doors of January, Alix Harrow has very quickly and seamlessly become my favorite author and, should she ever somehow see this review, I would like to thank her for having such a profound impact on my self reflection and sense of belonging.
