Veil of Light & Shadow by K.L. Perley
3.0
When two best friends, Aurora and Camryn, decide to go on a camping trip for some rest and relaxation Aurora is soon propelled into a world unlike their own. In the first installment of the Siverveil series we follow Aurora as she falls through a tear in the veil that separates our world with the magical realm of Silverviel.
Aurora finds herself lost and alone but is lucky to have been found by the ruggedly handsome and mysterious sentinel, Soren. The pair decide that to keep Aurora safe she must return to her land as soon as possible. As they trek across Silverveil in search for a new tear in the veil they soon discover that there is a shadow weaver hunting them both. And she will stop at nothing to capture Aurora for her own devious plans. However, evading this newly found foe just might be more than they can handle or will their newly found love be strong enough to thwart the shadow weavers plans?
Overall rating 3/5
I enjoyed the original concept of this book and the author’s take on the Fae world vs our own. I would have liked further details into the world around the two lovers. For example the book that Aurora finds in the library, or who and where this shadow weaver came from and why she is tracking down Aurora. I would have loved more world building and more in depth character development other than just from the main characters and their direct environment. If you like the tropes of a cinnamon roll MC, slow burn, and a quick read then definitely give this book a go.
*Thank you to K.L. Perley for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.
