The Reformatory by Tananarive Due
4.0
This book was so dark, so troubling, so intense, and so utterly beautifully written.
This was my first time reading from Tananarive Due and I am so amazed at the writing and the way I could viscerally feel the intensity of some of the scenes.
We are following Robbie Stephens as he tries to survive in the Reformatory while his sister Gloria tries from the outside to find a way to get him out. This was a heartbreakingly painful story but filled with so much hope and endurance.
At 550+ pages this book was long. It felt long. But there was so much that happened, I almost can understand why it needed to be so long. I also kind of don’t have the attention span for books of this length very often. But I still really enjoyed it.
