Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

4.0

I rather enjoyed this cute little story about Emily and Wendell's research adventures of the Hidden Ones and the more common fae in wintery Hrafnsvik. Emily's social ineptness was balanced nicely by Wendell's charm. Where she alienated, he embraced. Likewise, when her scientific knowledge got them into trouble, his common sense often got them out. They are a nicely balanced pair.

The townsfolk were also quite memorable, as were the troubles they endured thanks to the Hidden Ones. There was some adventure and some romance.

Also, the dog is cool.
