Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark
Did not finish book. Stopped at 25%.

The idea of fighting KKK in the 1920s and involving a touch fantasy/horror sounded so intriguing. Unfortunately, I found the story very confusing and couldn't follow it well while listening to the audio book. English isn't my mother tongue and the narrator did use African American English/slang/dialect (sorry, I don't know the correct term here), which made it so difficult for me to follow what was going on. I think it would have been easier for me if I would have read the printed version instead of picking out the audio version.
The horror elements were partly very vile (e.g., the description of the KKK monsters tearing into a cadaver made me gag; not a good thing while driving). I prefer more psychological horror that plays with the mind.
