I was back and forth on whether I loved or hated this book all the way until I finished it. This book takes a very complex dive into trauma, abuse, and the nature of humans, animals, and humans as animals. For anyone with triggers regarding DV, I highly do NOT recommend this book. For those who can stomach the content warnings, this is an emotionally turbulent experience that relies on the reader having perspective and empathy with what it can take to survive in this world and how our experiences shape us, for better or worse. I’m still not sure whether I love or hate this story but I have a great respect for it and am immeasurably glad that I read it.
