Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson
5.0
This book was lovely. As I’ve come to expect from Sanderson, the worldbuilding was rich and imaginative, the characters were fleshed out and differentiated, and the plot took interesting turns before reaching a satisfying conclusion. But I feel like I need to say more than that. Because, as much as I was invested in figuring out the mystery of “what the heck is going on here?”, I was even more invested in watching Yumi and Painter’s burgeoning relationship and seeing how they helped each other grow as people, taking on new challenges that they wouldn’t have been able to tackle apart. I feel like words can’t do this book justice – you just have to read it for yourself. It’s probably my favourite Sanderson book to date, and as a bonus, the artwork in the special edition is *incredible*. Definitely worth a read.
