I wish I could give this 6 stars. What a book, what an ending. Thank goodness it’s a duology because Jesus Christ. This was my first Tahir read and it won’t be my last. The emotions that I experienced while reading this? The full spectrum. Tahir is such an emotive and talented storyteller. I think that the people who enjoyed the previous books will feel like they have been thoroughly fed with this revisit.

Tahir’s character work is so good too. I feel speechless. I think this duology, if Tahir sticks the landing with the next book, will be up there with The Daevabad Trilogy and The Green Bone Saga as my favorite fantasy series.
