The Push by Ashley Audrain
4.5
The beginning was a little slow, but the intensity was growing steadily until it was just so much that I couldn’t stop reading.
The ending was brilliant - terrible and sad but done so so well.
As I am not a mother myself, reading this book was heartbreaking - but I can only imagine how much worse it would be for a mother/parent. But that speaks to the author’s ability to portray a story that can be emotional for anyone.
I absolutely love the fact that Blythe is very clearly not exactly a good person and makes questionable decisions due to some very deeply rooted issues, BUT her concerns about Violet were true and went ignored for so long. No one believed her, they even blamed her for many of the problems, even when we knew that she was right about her daughter.
