I really really wanted to like this book, especially since people recommend it for SOC fans. But it was just. So boring.
There were too many main characters and too little time to explor them or get attached to them or even give them more than one or two characteristics. The riddles/traps really wanted to appear clever and difficult to make the characters appear more intelligent, but they ended up being just silly and confusing.
The commentary on colonialism was pretty good, but a bit too surface level and there was too little of it. Maybe it gets explored more in the next book.
