For a good chunk of the book, this was a 1-star read. The author's writing style felt dull and unengaging, which did a great disservice to Kaikeyi if you take into consideration the fact that the book is very weak in the plot department.
The characters were mostly unlikeable, especially Rama. Even the ones that were written in a favouring light were meh. Kaikeyi herself is a dull main character and didn't make me feel anything, not because her story is unappealing, but because the writing style, again, didn't do it for me. That being said, I did somewhat enjoy Lakshamana and Kahshalya, while Yudhajit was sometimes nice to read.
I fully understand that Kaikeyi was a retelling of one of the core religious texts of Hinduism (only told from the perspective of the villain of sorts and glossing over the bulk of the actual Ramayana), so I will refrain from voicing my opinions of Rama out of respect for any Hindu person who might stumble upon this review.
