A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid

3.75

I had a really good time with this book.

- I didn’t love the budding romance, it felt forced at times… like there was this need to have a romance whether or not it felt necessary to the story.
- Effy’s story is hard but honestly very realistic/relatable as the only woman in her academic area. The book draws attention to a lot of difficult situations and addresses them well by the end.
- The journey for truth is a really great plot, the characters unveiling the truth whether it’s in their favor or not.
- I didn’t love all the Fairy King stuff - like her taking pills for hallucinating things and constantly questioning her sanity.
- The story had good pacing and I think it was a great length for the material provided.
