Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis

Did not finish book.
I adored the first page of this book. A man wakes up with amnesia in a dark wizard’s lab, and realizes with mounting horror that the dark wizard is HIM. Excellent premise, really enjoyed the first few chapters. But those who know me, know that I really don’t like embarrassment humour, and this whole book felt like embarrassment humour to me. Or waiting for the other shoe to drop on embarrassment humour. I got about a quarter of the way through it and realized it was making me anxious, so I put it down. Maybe I’ll come back to it sometime, but I doubt it. If you’re not as sensitive as me to embarrassment humour, I recommend this book – it's funny and well-written and the premise is great. I just couldn’t get through it without a sense of mounting dread, but most people aren’t as sensitive to these sorts of things as I am.
