This was so wholesome I’m crying

Let me tell you guys something — Kels and Denise will eat every book they write. It’s a fact that has been proven to me 4 times now.

♾️/5⭐️✨

About the book: Ollie is back in town after 17 years away to take care of his family’s business, unaware that the love of his life still lives next door and has a daughter. Now meadow is trying to find herself, and build her restaurant while having a daughter to care for.

Tropes:
- Second chance
- Single parent
- Brother’s best friend
- She’s a chef
- Forced proximity
- He helps her through her anxiety (made me cry at how sweet and compassionate this scene was)
- Grief rep
- Most importantly: kiltdaddy

My thoughts: this book was so sweet, I love second chance romances where the characters fall in love with each other all over again after years apart and try to fit themselves into each others’ lives. This story was so sweet!! I want a man that wants to take care of me like Ollie wants to take care of his Doe and Maisie. I just loved the banter and tension between Ollie and Meadow, I absolutely could not put the book down. My favorite part were when meadow and ollie bonded over fox, and helped each other deal with that grief.

I really wished I liked this. This book was the worst Elsie Silver book I have ever read. So many unexplored tropes thrown in here, so much repetitiveness. I get they have this childhood rivalry but it’s ridiculous at how childish it was. This “I’m so rich I could do anything” persona going on with Ford was ridiculous to say the least. There is no plot, no character development, no conflict worth of anything. The small town aspect was flat, and unexplored. There was nothing different nor memorable about these characters.

- idk if this is advertised as single parent but here’s what it is. “I have recently found out I have a 12 year old daughter spawned from sperm I donated years ago to buy concert tickets because my daddy wouldn’t spot me the money and her dad is dead, her mom is sick so now I have to take care of her and I’m worried we won’t bond, I feel so bad blah blah blah”
- rosie is just like every other girl as “im not like other girls, i’m strong” naur so

if you liked this story fine, i’m glad but I personally hated it. there’s still hope the next one is BETTER
