Lowkey should have just read a book about Congo.
Bennett is clearly very good writer. He does write very realistic characters obviously this does benefit from the actual history of Congo, but he can write characters who are extremely unlikable which I think is a good skill. The actual backdrop of Congo does a lot of heavy lifting. But certainly is not a bad book.

Just appalling what the U.S. gets away with doing to humans… devastating. And the fact this was written in Slahi’s fourth language & in that cell. The horror & perseverance to even be able to write this is astounding
