A male love interest written by Quinn who isn’t abusive in every sense of the word??? Julia Quinn developed a moral compass and I’m all here for it

Last year I had to do a project on UK politics. I ended up finding the ‘easy version’ of the Labour Party’s manifesto. Well, this book evokes the same feeling as an easy-to-read manifesto; and, sadly, I don’t say this as a compliment. The author seems to have trouble (or unwillingness) writing depth, nuance or antagonists that aren’t plainly cartoonish.
Still, having read The Henna Wars, I was prepared for this and wasn’t too underwhelmed by the juvenile, kiddie-pool-deep, and fairly untalented writing. With that in mind, Ishu and Hani were cute together, and I liked the relationship between Ishu and Nik!

QUE COÑAZO
This was so disappointing, I want to cry. The synopsis sounded genuinely so awesome, but the execution was aweful. The romance was lacking, the prophecy bit bo-ring and the characters were in way compelling enough to fix any of the above. Also, the bits of religious whatever at the end of chapters had me rolling my eyes back really hard.
Also, I'm not putting the blame on the author for this because she clearly needed a better editor, but all the typos in the book? Hello???
Might read the other books, but I'm not thrilled about where the story's going *shrugs*

Also, I read a couple reviews that stated that the Kreyol bit was awkward and was done really badly, so there's also that.

Overall, it started out fine, but I didn't like:
- Alexis and Malik's relationship
- That the moors were described as black. Honey, they were north Africans who'd had children with basque slaves. The last moorish looked like a certain Austrian's wet dream
