Kind of scary, as it feels less dystopian and more like the future

I want to be part of the Trevelyan family! Both Lou and Freya's stories feel like dreams, but not impractical ones. I really hope there are more stories in this series. Each one feels like a hug that I couldn't put down! For a historical romance, I enjoyed it far more than I expected to or even wanted to!

It was a fun read, and the story kept moving along - I was pretty sure I knew who 'Judge' was early on but that didn't stop reading on to find out what happend. I was originally found her hallucinations/predictions a bit weird, but as the story went on, it did start to work for me. I did find Nate quite boring, and I also get a bit of deja vu reading this as it feels similar to other things I've read previously, but I can't remember what!

I was absolutely sobbing by the end of it - I've also learnt a lot about Eastern Europe during Nazi occupation and about the terrors that occurred there.

A really interesting look into Germany at the period of time, speaking about a young group of people who have kind of been forgetten about. It really shows up the whole position of people not really knowing about the Nazis and not being able to stand up against them.

It might well have begun as almost harmless youthful recalcitrance, but the Edelweiss Pirates had the courage and decency to stand up against an unjust regime, and they would not be thrown off that course, even by brutal persecution. They were part of the other, better, Germany. We should not stop telling their story.

What have I just read? I'm not sure how I feel about it - the story definitely sucked me in!
