I don’t get the hype with this book. I liked Mellors other novel well enough but this one felt oddly overwritten and cliche to me. As someone with 3 sisters I didn’t really feel connected or moved at all by any of the passages. I did really enjoy some of the plot with Lucky but the other characters sorta fell flat to me, especially Bonnie. I was happy to see Avery and her mother’s development at the end because tbh she seemed pretty immature to me. Yeah I realize she has trauma but still I think it took her a shocking amount of time to make the basic revelation that her mother is a person too (coming from someone with similar experiences).
