This was very good. I enjoyed the darth vader comic i read last year, but mostly bc. i love vader. the story and art all flowed better, though i’m still not convinced i’m a comics person

to do a series the characters have to be at least distinct enough from one another that it doesn’t feel like a cop out. honestly, grace and hannah AND garret and logan aren’t different enough from one another in terms of voice to justify the existence of this book, especially since i felt like they were knock off versions of garret and hannah.

Every panel of art is beautiful and expressive. Taking place just mere days after the events of rots, it "hits different" as the kids say...the apathy and anger that fills what only days ago was a very young and kind man is as sad as it is terrifying - the former anakin skywalker being crushed under the weight of his relationship with palpatine and the reality of what he's done.
or - art good; vader sad :(

so macbeth really wants to be my boyfriend but he ain’t cut out for it. not nearly dramatic enough.
at the end of the day it is like a Remarkable Play (like its shakespeare) but uhhh the like...production that sold me was michael fassbender as macbeth (2015???) even though that movie is a lot

read for shakespaere performed:
??????? why are comedies so boring
edit 6/16/19: it always takes a really good adaptation to convince me, but this play IS funny. david tenant and catherine tate make shakespeare natural authentic and hysterical

so i listened to it on audiobook and i found the performer/narrator to be Annoying. can’t speak to her mandarin/chinese pronunciations/accents, but i found her british accents to be extremely jarring/grating.
maybe it was bc i was listening to it on audiobook, but there were looooonnnnngggg passages about a) what characters bought or wore, b) the history of china or singapore
and depending on my mood these passages came off either clumsy (generous: better for this information to be revealed and told slowly throughout the novel especially when it comes the Extravagance of characters) or condescending like the author doesn’t think that white audiences are either going to know or care to learn on their own a single thing about the history of china. if u a white person with no background knowledge feel alienated u either just gotta google it or put the book down.
in general i think this wouldn’t have been such a problem for me if i read it since i would have just skimmed those sections.
one last point: the ONLY character i care about is astrid thank you and goodnight
