Now this is an epic fantasy. There is a lot of world building so be prepared. Lots to remember and understand about the magic system, but I would say he does have way to write air-tight world building. I there were no holes and it was very a concrete magic system. Once I started to understand the magic, I needed to know what happens. There is a lot of different storylines to this book but if you like politics, rebellion, a kick ass female main character you can’t lose with this book. I would say I want to continue the trilogy since there are still unanswered questions!  

3.5 I feel this book should have been two books. There were too many plot lines and not enough time to go through them. I wish we would have as more time with the relationship ship of Dey and Orin and how they come together. Also I feel that there was so much world building that was discussed way too fast and needed two books to get through everything. Overall I really enjoyed the premise of the book and the characters. I listened to this as well as read it, I would have to say I really enjoyed the duet audiobook. 

Thank you Netgalley for this eARC. 4.5 for this book. This is a slow burn thriller with lots of characters. However it all comes together nicely at the end. There were times when I needed more to happen but needed to know what was going on. It had a nice psychological aspect to it but some was harder I believe. I can’t go into detail as it will spoil anything. There were parts that creeped me out and will probably continue from this author.
