I was really excited to read this, but I may have misjudged the tone of this story. It started off really strongly, but lost me for quite a while of the middle, and then ending strongly with the 12th volume. I'm considering rereading it later this year, just to see if I'm in a better headspace to follow along with all the seemingly random storylines, but for now it's just a disappointment. Amazing artwork though!

It's incredibly hard to review this, because there were so many parts of this story that I loved, but also many that I simply did not care for or about. The atmosphere of Herbert's writing is impeccable and the main reason I could keep on reading and finish. Unfortunately, he is the kind of writer that tells you, instead of showing you, especially for the first 3rd of the book. And while it was still intriguing, it just made me feel out of the loop and "late to the party" regarding the plot, instead of experiencing the big moments alongside the character that we've been following

This might have ignited a new love for audiobooks. I now wish I had read the previous books in the series by their audio book as well.
A great retelling of Troy, that still feels unique and interesting, though that story has been told so many times, in so many ways. Stephen Fry makes each tangent sometimes more interesting than the main story itself, but I think it mainly worked because of his storytelling abilities in the audiobook
