The Night She Went Missing by Kristen Bird
5.0
Money and power make the world of Galveston Island go around, but when a tiny shift in the axis tilts this close-knit town it all comes crashing down.
The way in which Kristen Bird writes is like drifting in a canoe on a warm summer day. It draws you in and makes the rest of the world and your cares flow farther and farther away. I was hooked by the Agatha Christie quote so smartly utilized before chapter 1. I'm not sure how any other book will live up to this in 2023!

"I made my way down the sidewalks we had walked, hand-in-hand, as children on our way to her house after school. The voice in my head said we'd never actually held hands, but the voice was wrong."
This is one of those books that's not only super smartly written, but also timely in a timeless way. The challenges of being a teenager on the brink of becoming an adult will always have a great impact on the outcomes of their future. However, for the kids in the small town Hagen, these challenges have become much more. After the death of a senior star swimmer and then witnessing another senior intentionally drive into a local diner, Detective Kylie Millard begins to think these deaths are somehow related.

I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The book was just ok. I liked the plot but I thought it could have been executed better. I did enjoy the pace and the relationship between the two main characters. I would read another one of this author's books for sure.

I'm not a fan of romance so I wasn't sure how I would like this book. However the character development and plot were amazing! You will love it or hate it!

Elle Grawl will have you second and third guessing who, what, when, and where in this creepy thriller! Super twisted and enthralling until the last word!

I received this ARC from NetGalley. Joshilyn Jackson is a masterful suspense writer and this is a masterpiece! The twists you will never see coming as super smart and well timed. The characters are so well written that they become so real.
